From August 2020 to January 2021, I created a "Magic Table" entirely from scratch. I wanted to apply my knowledge of programming and geometry from school and the electronics that I learned primary by myself with my artistic talent to create a unique table for my room.
First, I planned the "smart" functionality. Then, I designed it in a CAD software (OnShape) and built it from wood recycled rosewood, cedar and some plywood at home and bought a milky glass. I designed a circuit with 16 LEDs and 16 proximity sensors to monitor changes on the face of the table. I programmed an Arduino MCU to interact with the sensors and LEDs, then programmed an app (on MIT App Inventor) to control and dynamically modify the behavior of the table via Bluetooth.
